Apple To Release AirTags, iPhone 12 and New Apple Watch

Release Dates

According to a report from one of the Japanese site, Apple should hold an event in the latter half of October that will see the unveiling of the iPhone 12 models, Apple Watch Series 6, and long-rumored AirTags.

Apple said that we should expect that this year’s iPhone is going to be a little late, launching a “few weeks later” than the normal September timeframe. The iPhone 12 lineup is expected to be released in October. It is expected that two lower-end 5.4 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 devices are expected to ship out ahead of the 6.1 and 6.7-inch Pro devices, and it’s confirmed that there is Series 6 and lower-cost Apple Watches are coming this fall.

What we know about iPhone 12

iPhone 12 should start at $649, and the most expensive model should cost around $1399. Jon Prosser released US prices for every storage option for all four models of the late 2020 iPhone.

The bellow image from designer Jonas Daehnert shows what the iPhone 12 Pro could look like with the flat edges, a smaller notch, and a fourth camera which will be a LiDAR sensor for more immersive augmented reality applications. That feature was first introduced in the iPad Pro that came out in March.

iPhone 12 will come with a 5.4-inch BOE OLED Super Retina display, and iPhone 12 Max model will have a 6.1-inch BOE OLED Super Retina display. iPhone 12 Pro will come with a 6.1-inch Samsung OLED Super Retina display, and iPhone 12 Pro Max will come with a 6.7-inch Samsung OLED Super Retina display. Rumored reports from DigiTimes confirm that iPhone 12 should have the same 120Hz refresh rate as the iPad Pro. But according to the newest leaks, this probably won’t be a thing.

A report from Digitime confirms that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have two rear cameras, and the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have three rear cameras along with the LiDAR sensor. It’s also expected that they will add the LiDAR time-of-flight sensor. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects such an addition to at least two iPhone models, probably Pro versions. A leaked iPhone 12 Pro schematic shows what a time-of-flight lens might look like on the iPhone 12 Pro.

iPhone 12 will be provided with the newest Apple A14 chipset, which will lot better than the previous A13. It will come with the newest Apple GPU, which will provide okay graphical effects. It comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB of storage depending on which model you got. Storage is not expandable like on all Apple devices so you should have that in mind.

Apple will probably follow the same pattern of the last couple of iPhone launches. That means more colors for the less expensive iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max, while the iPhone 12 Pro models will adopt darker, more traditional color schemes such as OG Space Gray and Silver.

New Apple Watch Series

Price & release date rumors

It’s most likely that Apple will release New Apple Watch Series 6 in the October with iPhone 12 series. On the other hand, Jon Prosser has suggested that the Apple Watch Series 6 will be released on September 7, along with next-generation iPad models.

Currently there are no rumors that have suggested a cost for the upcoming Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Series 5 costs between $399 to $1349. That highly depends on what size, material, and band a user selects. If Series 6 releases a plastic version, it could starts under $399.

What will it be made of?

It’s expected that the new Apple Watch will be made of aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and ceramic. There have been some suggestions that the Apple Watch may soon get a plastic version. The new entry-level Watch could serve as a device for children or first-time buyers who would like to try out an inexpensive model.

What’s new?

New Kid Mode is rumored to be introduced in the future. Kid Mode would allow parents to pair an additional Watch with their iPhone. This would allow them to easily track the child’s location and give children ability to contact family members.

Sleep tracking and blood oxygenation could be coming with new Apple Watch. Blood oxygen detection has been rumored to be arriving on the Apple Watch nearly every year. This one is even more important since people who suffered from COVID can have no outward symptoms until their blood oxygen were dangerously low.

Workouts are another thing that should be changed. Workouts is now getting rebranded to “Fitness,” and will collect data from both Workouts and Activity. This will provide users a streamlined information which will help them achieve their goals.

AirTags are small tracking tiles with Bluetooth connectivity that can be used to find lost items. They will come with built-in chips that will allow them to connect to an iPhone, relaying the position of devices they are attached to. You will be able to use your iPhone, iPad, and Mac to track the location of AirTags like you find your iPhone. AirTags could come out this October and is expected to cost something about $35.

Based on rumors, AirTags are small, circular white tags with an Apple logo on the front. Presumably, these will attach to items via adhesive or an attachment point like a ring, and there may be multiple ways to use them with different items.
