OnePlus Nord review: Great mid-range 5G phone

OnePlus is known for its high-quality, fast and cheaper phones than the equivalent flagships from Apple, Huawei, and Samsung. However, over the year’s price is the only thing that changed and now their flagships cost almost as much as the competition. So this year OnePlus surprised us with a great mid-range phone the OnePlus Nord.

Release date and price

OnePlus Nord was announced on July 21 and launched on August 04. It comes 2 color variants: Blue Marble, and Gray Onyx. And it will only cost around $449, which is making it a great mid-range 5G phone.

OnePlus Nord Design

The new OnePlus phone has a familiar design and the company didn’t want to experiment even a little here. It feels premium to touch and weight is well-balanced. The new Nord is an all-glass device with Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back. Thankfully, OnePlus is offering a simple soft clear case out of the box. This is very important because the new OnePlus phone has a plastic frame, and the plastic frame and all-glass body will not make you feel confident. There is no IP rating but OnePlus claims that the Nord may withstand splashes.

Camera Quality

OnePlus Nord has a quad-camera system on the back: 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP depth camera, and 2MP macro camera. This phone can shoot 4k videos at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60/240 fps. On the front, OnePlus Nord has a dual selfie camera 32MP main camera and 8MP ultra-wide camera. The selfie camera can shoot videos at 4k@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60fps.

OnePlus Nord is provided with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset. Which will offer great performance for gaming and other usages. It has an Adreno 620 GPU, which is great for the graphical effects while 6GB / 8GB / 12GB of RAM will handle both gaming and multitasking easily. It will come with 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of storage, and memory won’t be expandable through SD.

The OnePlus Nord has a 4115mAh Li-Po battery which combined with a power-efficient Snapdragon 765G, makes a great battery performance. The battery will last over one day of usage for sure. It also comes with a 30W fast charger, which can recharge your battery from 0%-70% in just 30min.

AnTuTu benchmark

AnTuTu is a Benchmark app for android users. It gives your device an overall numerical score as well as an overall score for each test it performs. It’s useful for comparing your device’s speed and performance with other options on the market. You will find a lot of customization options for things such as ambient display, fingerprint animations, battery icons, system-wide icon packs, and a lot of different fonts. This customization allows you to make the phone you own without the need for extra applications.
